Although still a relatively young city, Malaysia's capital offers a multicultural heritage which is reflected in its archotecture - mosques and temples stand beside colonial buildings and modern tower blocks. Sights include the King's Palace, the Petronas Twin Towers and the many beautiful parks and gardens. KL is also a shopper's paradise, offering modern shopping malls and traditional markets.

1. Seeing the incredible views from the Petronas Twin Towers - once the tallest in the world.

2. Visiting Merdeka Square, the traditional heart of the city. Just follow the 95m flag pole - reputedly the tallest in the world.

3. Climbing the 272 steps up to the limestone Batu Caves.

4. Shopping includes malls, department stores and outdoor bazaars and night markets. Head to Chinatown's Petaling Street for fake designer goods. Don't leave without a traditional memento - a batik, pewter ware or a Malaysian Kite (wau).

5. Food & entertainment can be found on Bintang Walk in the city centre. There are a trendy choice of alfresco cafes and bars. Alternatively, try the plaza at the foot of the Petronas Twin Towers. Malay food is spicy but not too hot and we recommend you give the local satay a try.
