1. Joining the Oistins fish fry. This Barbados institution takes place every Friday and local and visitors alike converge on the little south coast fishing village to feast on freshly cooked flying fish, washed down with a cold Banks Beer.

2. Going on a catamaran cruise up the west coast where you can swim with turtles.

3. Exploring the interior landscape on an island safari.

4. Taking a trip to dramatic North Point, where the Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean converge, along with a visit down into the Animal Flower Caves.

5. Head inland and you'll find many places to visit, including the Barbados Wildlife Reserve, home to various animals such as alligators, tortoises, deer and monkeys, all roaming free.

6. The famous St Lawrence Gap is the place to head to for lively bars and restaurants, such as the Ship Inn, with nightly entertainment in tot he small hours.
